prejudice

I agree with Parrallo that many prejudices are instilled in people by the socialization process. It seems to me that as long as people have a need to be discriminatory society will pass on that need to the next generation. I found it interesting that there where many different processed which could cause this prejudice to occur, among the most interesting in my opinion was scapegoating, in which people would put their failure to get a job, the problems with the economy, and the cloudy weather all on the shoulders of a minority group that was too weak to defend itself from the onslaught of the prejudiced majority. Unfortunately this scenario is textbook and has happened many times from the ages of the ancient Romans feeding Christians to the lions up until modern times with Hitler exterminating 6 million Jews. I found this article fascinating because it explained some of the reasons behind the madness.
