I love inter-library loans

Blog 12/8/09

For today’s research I worked on my non-print source. I had gotten on an inter-library loan for the book Archaeological Salvage Excavations at Patoka Lake, about 2 weeks ago. I originally wanted to read this book out of personal interest, but now will also help me in English for my inquiry contract. Today the book came in to the library in Zionsville. For a person with a heavy 870 page archaeological dissertation I felt rater elated. The book details exactly what the name would lead you to believe it is about. I found references in the text about how of the 2 rock shelters that had been deemed worthy of further investigation had both been dug into by collectors. The contents were so disturbed that they were unable to gain any useful information. Because this book was written in 1980 it also gives insight into how looting was treated then. The looting is actually slightly melancholic but is not addressed as harshly as in more recent archaeological publications.
