cartoon vs. ad

Read Writing Arguments Ch. 2, p. 22-38
• Blog – Compare the ad on p. 24 to the cartoon on p. 1. How do their genres influence their arguments?
The different genres of the cartoon, which presents a reality, with a satirical twist, in a humorous way showing the absurdity of the statement about genetically, modified foods. The other is more of an indignant statement made by the people who oppose genetically modified foods say that they want labels to say when foods have been genetically modified. They use an example, which, is inferior to the cartoon’s presentation of their opinion. The cartoon is something that more people will want to read, thus making it a more effective medium for displaying an opinion. As many people will note you see people reading the comics out of the newspapers with higher frequency than almost any other article that is not on the front page of the newspaper. The humor in the cartoon is clearly the biggest influence on why the cartoon is more effective
