During the presentations for rhetoric on the town I found two of Brian’s shot’s particularly interesting firstly the shot of the chiseled abs of the manikin in the Hollister store. I found it rather ironic that a clothing store would emphasize the muscles on a unclothed manikin rather than clothing it with their products. Though I suppose it would not make much sense for Hollister to have manikins with beer gut associated with their store, it still seems a bit of a stretch that I would subconsciously associate me having chiseled abs with a Hollister shirt. The other photo was of the Victoria’s Secret store with scantly clad models wearing Victoria’s Secret bras. This I found odd because I thought its depiction of women wearing Victoria’s Secret as hot would not appeal to women since it sexualizes them and would probably make them fell like they were not good looking enough. However this apparently makes women associate looking good with Victoria’s Secret despite that it seems to objectify its customers.
