similarities

What does the poem have in common with the first 2 paragraphs of chapter 17

The poem, like the first 2 paragraphs of chapter 17 both have in common the themes of the shame of their eating. One is shamed because he has to be fed through charity; the other is forced into the kitchen because people are ashamed of him. In both the poem and the book the people grow strong while they are shamed and exiled and realize that they are stronger than those who shamed and exiled them., and that they will not always be forced back into the kitchen. The realization that there is hope despite some peoples efforts to suppress it is a reoccurring theme through both of the works despite that they are by different authors this shows the collective black spirit.
