Rhetoric on the Town

  • Gather images for Rhetoric on the Town
  • Blog – Respond to what you found.

For my Rhetoric on the Town project I found several images while skiing that clearly show rhetorical strategies in their presentation. I chose to photograph advertisements because they clearly designed to accomplish a persuasive argument. The argument is that their product is worth purchasing because it is “cool” or will make you cool, or that the product is good quality. The advertisements that I photographed showed a sign that said, “We proudly brew Starbucks coffee”. Another advertisement was for Rockstar Energy Drink which was placed on the side of a jump and was clearly visible from the chair lift, because of it’s placement it is clear that it was designed to have people associate it with skiing and snowboarding which are cool. Another thing that I photographed was the banner for Nature Valley “Nastar” race which was both cleverly named and well marketed by the dozens of banners promoting it.
